Phew, spent most of today writing press releases and getting submitted to various sites. Particularly enjoyed the feeling of community from being able to register and post a blog entry at iphoneappreview.com.

It’s a lot of effort writing this stuff, particularly when you have to tailor what you’ve written, and when the submission process is just slightly different for every site you go to, but it does make you focus very firmly on what you want to say. I think that bulk submission, like I remember doing back in the days when I was doing SEO, never quite gives you the results you want. You have to remember who your readers are, and in each case tweak what you’ve done just a little bit.

Having read various horror stories about apps getting rejected for (allegedly) trifling reasons, I’m relieved and proud to announce that we had no such problems, and consequently Crosspatch is now available in the App Store!

I’m still slightly flummoxed by the order in which the screenshots appear on our App Store page, but I guess I’ll go back and fix that at some point in the near future. Basically, the trick with getting your app approved seems to be nothing more than following the Apple guidelines, and not trying to be a smarty-pants.

So… the web site’s up, the Twitter feed is running. There’s a free edition of the app waiting to be approved too, so that should be available within a few days. Let’s see what happens next.

Crosspatch got submitted to the App Store today. It was a slightly nerve-wracking process, not because of the on-line form-filling – that bit was nicely straightforward – but because we needed to make sure that the application itself was all properly compiled, signed and everything.

Also, as every software engineer knows, that moment when you’ve fixed the bugs, finally dropped that last feature that you were hoping to include, locked the code base and committed yourself to shipping is in equal parts exciting and scary.

So now we wait for approval!
